Helix has several mechanisms to avoid database corruption during a crash or power failure. One of these mechanisms is the Recover File. Helix allows you to control where this Recover File goes by modifying a collection's HRFL (Helix Recover File Location) resource. By specifying that the recover file is placed on a volume other than the one where the collection resides, you can improve Helix's performance, some times markedly so.

Modifying the HRFL resource used to require ResEdit, or another resource editor. These resource editors are often complex, and often require a bit of MacOS programming background. HRFLEditOSX allows you to modify Helix's HRFL resource simply, easily, with drag and drop.
