OS X sometimes seems like two worlds - the command line enviroment and the GUI enviroment. Most people just use the GUI, and have no need to go beyond that. Some of us do.

Here's where I try to collect information for the users that need to go bopping around in the unix enviroment.

Getting into root's home directory

 % cd ~root
 
    OR

 % cd /var/root
